Preliminary Site Investigation
This is the first step of site assessment. The main outcome of this preliminary site investigation / assessment is to provide an indication if the site has the potential to be contaminated due to the historical and current uses the site or by the surrounding land uses.
This stage of assessment will provide a picture of site specific environmental setting (e.g. site geology, hydrogeology, topography, etc). In turn, this assessment will provide a preliminary site conceptual site model to identify any pollutant linkages (source-receptor-pathway), which is an integral and founding part of the assessment process.
This is a very important initial investment when purchasing a property or leasing a site. This preliminary site assessment (as a minimum) may also be required by the local councils as part of your proposed future development.
